An expert panel of speakers from research, technology, and entrepreneurship discussed the real-world impact of Artificial Intelligence in business.
A highly successful event with strong attendance, titled “Artificial Intelligence in Practice: Solutions, Businesses & Startups”, was organised by the University of York Europe Campus at its new campus in Oreokastro on Thursday, 7 May 2026, with the support of the Alexandria Innovation Zone.

The event featured a panel of distinguished speakers from the fields of technology, research, and entrepreneurship, who explored how Artificial Intelligence is progressively transforming the business landscape, with particular emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups.

The discussion was moderated by Ms. Theodouli (Lia) Terzidou, PhD, MSc, executive at the Alexandria Innovation Zone and President of the Board of the Hellenic Computer Society (Macedonia–Thrace Branch).

During their presentations, the speakers emphasized that Artificial Intelligence is no longer a future concept, but a practical tool for growth and innovation that businesses should begin actively exploring through experimentation and real-world applications. At the same time, they stressed that the adoption of AI tools must be accompanied by critical thinking, a clear understanding of their limitations, and responsible use.
Particular emphasis was also placed on the emerging challenges associated with the widespread integration of Artificial Intelligence, including issues related to security, data protection, and the ethical use of technology. The speakers highlighted that the development of reliable governance frameworks and the strengthening of organizations’ digital maturity are critical factors for the sustainable adoption of AI.

The event also included an open Q&A session, during which attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and receive practical insights regarding the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in business operations.
