Admission Requirements

Secondary Education Credentials

Candidates for Undergraduate studies should meet one of the following requirements:

  • Greek or foreign citizens holding a General High School (GE.L.) or Vocational High School (EPA.L.)
    diploma with an average in their four (4) nationally examined subjects (Panhellenic Examinations)
    greater than or equal to the minimum admission base, which is derived from the lowest of the average
    scores of all examinees per scientific field, multiplied by a factor of zero point eight (0.8) on the year of
    their participation in the Panhellenic Examinations.
    Note: Applicants who have completed Secondary Education before the 2021-2022 school year, as well
    as those who hold a first-cycle degree, are exempted from the performance requirement in Panhellenic
    Examinations (see above).
  • Holders of equivalent Secondary Education diplomas from recognised foreign schools in Greece (level 4
    of the National Qualifications Framework)
  • Holders of international Secondary Education diplomas awarded by schools in Greece or abroad,
    foreign citizens holding Secondary Education diplomas equivalent to the Greek Lyceum or equivalent
    vocational education qualifications that grant them the right to enter higher education institutions in
    their country of study

Good knowledge of English

Applicants must have a very good knowledge of the English language, certified by a recognised provider with an appropriate score. The Europe Campus publishes the list of recognised providers and scores required on a yearly basis. The English Language qualifications should normally have been acquired within the last three (3) years, taking into consideration the starting date of the chosen programme at the Europe Campus.

Required English Language certification and scores:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) with overall score of 6.0 or above, with at least 5.5 in each component.
  • Pearson – PTE Academic with overall score 55 or above, with no less than 51 in each component.
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) with overall score of 169 or above, with no less than 162 in each component.
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) with an overall score of 169 or above, with no less than 162 in each component.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) internet-based test (iBT) and special home edition, with overall score 79 or above, with a minimum of 17 in Listening, 18 in Reading, 20 in Speaking and 17 in Writing.
  • Michigan State University – Certificate of English Language Proficiency (MSU – CELP): CEFR C2
  • GCSE English Language with minimum Grade C / Grade 4.
  • iGCSE English Language with minimum Grade C.
  • Trinity ISE Level 3 with Pass in all components.
  • Duolingo with overall score 100, minimum 90 in all other components.
  • Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE).
  • Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): overall score 91 and above with a minimum of 81 in writing, listening and GCVR and a minimum of 3- in speaking (accepted until July 2020).
  • Michigan English Test (MET): overall score 230 and above with a minimum of 53 in each component.

Additional Information

  • It may be possible to consider other English language qualifications. Please contact the Admissions Office at: admissions@city.yorkeuropecampus.eu for further advice.
  • Candidates who have completed their high school studies through the medium of the English Language are not required to hold an English language qualification (a document of proof should be submitted e.g. a transcript or letter from the institution).
  • Candidates who claim to have a very good knowledge of the English language but not certified by a recognised provider (as per the list above), before the programme starts, are required to take an English Language placement test to verify their level in English Language. If the result is deemed appropriate, they can enrol in the first cycle of study. They will be allowed to progress to year 2 only after meeting the specific requirement of acquiring an approved English language qualification.
  • Candidates may also be required to fulfil additional programme-specific entry requirements, as
    determined by the Departmental Academic Board, where applicable.

An application form

You can download and print an application form from our website at: city.yorkeuropecampus.eu/study/how-to-apply/ or you can request a copy from the Admissions Office or the Local Office in your country. Applications completed in your own handwriting, should be scanned, and attached to your email along with the required documents described below.

Please note that your application and the required documents should be sent by email to the Admissions Office (admissions@city.yorkeuropecampus.eu). You may be required to send/submit the hard copies of your documents.

Alternatively, you may submit your application and the supporting documents through the Recruitment Office.

Photograph

You should send/submit through email an identity-card size coloured photograph.

Certified Photocopy of the English Language qualification(s)

You should email a certified copy of any English Language Certificate you hold. Candidates who have not acquired an English language qualification at the time of the submission of their application form are required to submit it by the commencement of the course. Depending on the English Language test provider, if the test reference number is provided, we can verify the qualification online, otherwise a certified copy is required.

Copy of your passport (or ID)

You should email a copy of your passport (or Identity Card) where your name and other relevant personal information appear in the Latin / English alphabet.

Registration fee

Note: For the October 2025 intake, the registration fee should not be submitted along with the application. The registration fee will be deposited during the first week of classes.

The registration fee is a one-time fee paid by all applicants. The registration fee is refundable in the event that the candidate’s application is rejected by the Europe Campus or, in the case of international students, if the candidate’s application for a student visa is rejected by the relevant immigration authorities. When the application form and the associated documentation are emailed, a copy of the bank receipt for the payment of the registration fee must be included. Payment details are provided in the tuition fees list.

Certified copies of secondary education credentials:

Applicants are required to submit certified copies of one of the following academic qualifications, as
applicable:

  • General High School Diploma or Vocational High School Diploma obtained in Greece.
  • Certificate with the results of the National University Entrance Exams, as described above in the admission requirements.
  • Secondary Education Diploma awarded by a recognised foreign school operating in Greece, classified at Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
  • International Secondary Education Diploma (e.g. International Baccalaureate, GCE A-Levels, etc.) awarded by a school in Greece or abroad.
  • Secondary Education Diploma or equivalent vocational qualification obtained abroad by foreign citizens, provided that the qualification grants eligibility for entry to higher education in the country of issuance.

Candidates who have not yet graduated from high school at the time of submitting their application may provide interim academic records or transcripts.

If the high school credentials (e.g. leaving certificate, transcripts of performance, etc.) are issued in a language other than English, candidates are required to submit certified copies of the original documents, accompanied by official English translations.

Translations must be issued either by the awarding institution or by a certified translator or officially
recognised translation service.

Due to the variation in standards of secondary, higher secondary and undergraduate education, students should include complete information regarding all their educational qualifications. The above list is for guidance only and is not exhaustive. Students who are unsure about the acceptability of their qualifications should seek advice from the Admissions Office of the University of York Europe Campus with full details of their educational background.
