Department of Law

The Department of Law aspires to cultivate critical thinking and commitment to the principles of the Social State of Law through the provision of comprehensive and holistic education in the science of Law, combining academic excellence with a profound sense of ethical and social responsibility. Teaching in the department emphasizes the integration of legal theory with real-world legal practice, employing problem-based learning to mirror the complexities encountered by legal professionals. The ultimate goal is to prepare graduates who are not only well-versed in the substance and interpretation of legal norms but who also embody the ideals of justice in both their personal and professional lives. They are expected to be conscientious citizens, responsible practitioners, and incorruptible stewards of public affairs—individuals who uphold integrity and dedicate their careers to advancing justice, promoting the rule of law, and contributing meaningfully to social progress.

Welcome message

Dear members of our academic community, dear students,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Department of Law at the University of York – Europe Campus, an academic institution dedicated to providing innovative and internationally oriented legal education of high quality. In an era of rapid change and unprecedented global challenges, the Science of Law is called upon to play a crucial role in shaping a fairer, more transparent, and more sustainable world.

In this context, our School -driven by a vision to cultivate legal professionals with a high level of knowledge, moral integrity, and critical thinking— offers three academic programmes that effectively respond to the needs of modern society and the economy:

  • The undergraduate programme “LLB Greek Law with Common Law,” which combines a solid and in-depth education in the Greek legal system with a fundamental understanding of the core institutions of Anglo-Saxon law, preparing graduates with excellent knowledge of Greek law and a European or international perspective.
  • The postgraduate programme “LLM in Business Law,” designed for those who wish to delve into contemporary corporate, commercial, and economic law, equipping them for a successful career in the legal support of business activity.
  • The postgraduate programme “LLM in European and International Business Law,” which approaches law from a cross-border perspective, focusing on the functioning of business within the framework of the European Union and the global market.

The Department of Law is committed to being a space of academic excellence and free thought in both teaching and research, looking forward to the collaboration of all members of the university community—faculty, students, researchers, and legal professionals.

I invite you to join us on this exciting journey of learning, personal development, and contribution to Law and Society.

Sincerely,

Professor Dr. George Dellios
