Learning Beyond the Classroom

Public Engagement Scheme

Since 2016, the Humanities Department, in partnership with the Municipality of Thessaloniki, has run its Public Engagement Scheme “Supporting Financially Weak Families of Thessaloniki: English Language Lessons for Teenagers”. The programme offers free English classes to help local teens earn a B2 certificate within three years, while also providing real-classroom teaching experience to final year students of the BA (Hons) in English Language, Linguistics, and Literature. The initiative fosters volunteering, solidarity, and active citizenship among staff and students.

Real-life Projects

Our students have the opportunity to work on real-life projects on a variety of topics ranging from translation and language teaching to content creation and digital marketing under the supervision of experienced staff members. Through this invaluable experience, they acquire important skills and significantly enhance their employability profile.

Research-based and Practical Dissertations

Students have the opportunity to pursue either a research project or a practical dissertation. Thus, they can expand their knowledge on a topic of their choice either through the conduction of authentic research or through a practical project for a real client.
