Research Labs

Research Labs

NEUREC operates two fully-equipped research labs at the University’s premises in Thessaloniki:

  • The Neuroscience Lab
  • The Applied Neuroscience Lab

Our Neuroscience Research Centre (NEUREC) brings together a multidisciplinary team of researchers from Psychology, Neuroimaging, Computing & Engineering, Economics & Finance, and Marketing. Together, we tackle pressing societal, health, and financial challenges—varying from aging population and mental health, efficient markets and financial investment, leadership and consumer’s behaviour.

Neuroscience Lab

One of the few labs of its kind in Northern Greece, the Neuroscience Lab was established to enhance both research and clinical practice in the fields of Neuropsychology and Neuroscience.

Staffed by certified experts and trained staff, the lab supports academic learning and cutting-edge research for both clinical and non-clinical populations.

Key functions and equipment:

  • Brain Imaging (128 Electrode EEG, g.tec Medical Engineering)
  • Real-time brain training tools (Neurofeedback equipment, NeXus-10 by Mind Media)
  • Physiological responses measurement systems (e.g., heart rate, skin conductance)
  • Integration into both undergraduate and postgraduate student experience
  • Specialised training for students in the Cognitive and Clinical NeuropsychologyMasters programme

Applied Neuroscience Lab

The Applied Neuroscience Lab is a dynamic space for experimental and applied neuroscience research. It  plays a pivotal role in advancing knowledge in emerging fields such as Neuromarketing, Neurolinguistics and Neuropsychology. By fostering collaboration among scholars, practitioners and students, the Applied Neuroscience Lab contributes significantly to the development of innovative approaches for understanding and influencing human cognition, behaviour and communication through neuroscientific insights.

Key functions and equipment:

  • Equipped with three electroencephalogram (EEG) headsets (EMOTIV Insight 2.0) to record electrical brain (electrical) activity while people conduct different activities (e.g, resolving a problem, decision-making about products, etc) or are exposed to different stimuli or situation (e.g., brands, products, faces etc).
  • Equipped with one of best Eye tracking systems in the field (Tobii Pro Spark), which allows to record different measures of eye movement strategies of people watching visual stimuli, videos, reading text or conducting different tasks in the computer.
