The programme provides students with invaluable practical experience in content creation, and helps them develop a portfolio of their own work. More specifically, through the modules Writing across Media, Mobile and Social Media Journalism, Writing for Social Media, and Digital and Social Media Marketing, students will learn how to produce and edit shareable content on different social media platforms and digital media. Similarly, through the modules Digital Imaging Production, Digital Video and Audio Production, Animation Theory and Design, and Digital Storytelling, students will learn to use professional equipment and software effectively for the creation of digital imaging, digital audio and video content, and animation. Moreover, throughout the programme students will have the opportunity to enhance key professional and personal skills which are absolutely necessary in the contemporary workplace. Graduates can pursue an exciting career in communication, social and digital media marketing, journalism, copywriting and public relations.

This module instructs students in all aspects of academic and professional communication, including academic writing, reading, speaking and listening through the examination of contemporary social issues, as well as those pertinent to the student’s own field of study. It also provides space for students to consider how technology is used in the academic communication process. Using a variety of different teaching and learning methods, students will be given the opportunity to practice and improve their overall use of academic language so that by the end of the module they are proficient in the specifics of academic and professional discourse.
This interdisciplinary, university-wide module equips Year 1 undergraduate students with essential academic, personal, and professional skills to support their successful transition into Higher Education and prepare them for lifelong learning and employability. Students will develop capabilities in academic literacy, critical thinking, digital fluency, collaborative learning, time and self-management, communication, and intercultural awareness. The purpose of this module is to help students become ethical, effective and flexible communicators. The complexities together with the significance of communication are discussed throughout the module. The process and models of communication are examined within our everyday life. However, students are able to apply these into different contexts. More specifically, the module will examine the process of creating meaning and verbal and non-verbal communication, which will provide students with the foundations of communication, as well as communication technologies, organisational communication, mass communication, etc.
In the twenty-first century, individuals working in organizations must develop effective management skills to navigate increasing global competition. These skills are essential for organizations to differentiate themselves, maintain a competitive advantage, and achieve long-term success. This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to foundational concepts, theories, and practices central to effective business management. It explores core functions such as planning, organising, leading, and controlling, with a focus on applying these functions to real-world business challenges. The module emphasises the importance of organizational structure and design, illustrating how different structures can affect managerial decision-making and overall performance. Additionally, it highlights the human side of management, examining key motivational theories and the complexities of various leadership styles. In a business landscape increasingly shaped by ethical concerns and the rise of AI, students will also be equipped with the tools to address ethical dilemmas and comprehend the social responsibilities inherent in management roles.
The module offers a comprehensive overview of digital media history from the birth of the personal computer through the advent of the Internet and mobile phones to the digitisation of analogue media. Through the historical development of digital media, students will be able to understand the most important turning points in the digitalisation of communication and the increasingly important role of digital media in everyday life.
This module provides first-year undergraduate students with foundational knowledge of Generative AI technologies, their ethical implications, and practical applications. Through a combination of theoretical discussions and hands-on workshops, students will develop critical thinking skills to evaluate generative AI systems, understand their societal impact, and apply these tools ethically within their respective disciplines. Students will gain practical experience with prompt engineering, learn to identify AI-generated content, and explore discipline-specific applications. The module begins with core concepts common to all students, followed by discipline-specific applications tailored to Business Studies, Psychology, Computer Science, English Language Linguistics and Literature, and Communication and Digital Media.
This hands-on module equips first-year undergraduate students with essential digital skills through practical experience with cloud-based productivity tools and discipline-specific applications. Students will develop competencies in collaborative document creation, data analysis, presentation design, and digital organization. The module emphasizes cloud computing concepts, collaboration techniques, and effective digital workflows. Following a common foundation in such tools, students will explore specialized applications relevant to their academic disciplines (Business Studies, Psychology, Computer Science, English Language Linguistics and Literature, and Communication and Digital Media), preparing them for academic success and future professional environments.
This module provides an introduction to Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and user experience (UX) principles. More specifically, students learn what usability in digital media is and how it can be measured, how HCI can be used in all phases of the software development process, and how HCI can be used to evaluate the usability of a software system. Finally, they are taught a systematic method for designing usable UIs (User Interfaces).

This module provides a good understanding of all the main concepts of marketing in the contemporary environment.
In this module, students are exposed to a historical overview of the emergence and development of cinema leading to the current film industry. Its main focus lies in introducing students to how the medium of cinema emerged, how the industry in the United States mainly developed, as well as consider the former’s interrelationship with the development of European cinema. The three initial film genres, the western, the musical and the melodrama, are introduced alongside their characteristics. Students become aware of the socio-historical, political, economic and cultural contribution of the film medium. The films and respective
excerpts that will be studied fall in a diverse spectrum ranging from American to European films, including past classics as well as contemporary productions.

Our daily habits, work and identities have been affected significantly by the advent and development of social media platforms and the digital world. This module examines the intertwined relationship between digital media and society by exploring key theories and studies.

Moreover, the module familiarises students with the basic principles and operating systems of mobile devices and examines the development of mobile applications.
This module introduces students to digital imaging production by examining key concepts and techniques through various examples of contemporary creative practices. It also discusses issues of originality and creativity, as well as ethical and legal issues of digital imaging creation and use. During the practical sessions of the module, students will have the opportunity to explore the practical applications of digital imaging and will learn how to use digital camera equipment and image editing software.
In the 21st century, it is even more imperative to learn to respect diversity and communicate effectively with other cultures. This module discusses how cultures and social groups use communication in different ways. More specifically, it examines key topics, theories and themes of intercultural communication and aims to raise awareness about issues of equity, diversity and inclusion in communication.
The module examines the use of mobile devices and social media platforms by journalists for gathering, producing and distributing news content in line with organisation policies and practices. It also presents the fundamental skills required in digital journalism and emphasises the role of the audience, as well as the challenges and risks involved in the news production process via social media platforms.
This module is designed to teach students the way messages should be adapted across different media. The way we write depends greatly on the different media we use. Both the analysis of our audience and the communication channel we choose determine the style we will adopt. Students will experience the writing format both in traditional media such as press releases, advertising, news, as well as in new media such as blogs. Basic media writing techniques will be discussed along with writing on the web. A variety of in-class activities will include different writing projects, such as blogging, news and feature stories, press releases, etc.
Το μάθημα εξετάζει τη συνεχώς μεταβαλλόμενη φύση του ψηφιακού μάρκετινγκ δίνοντας έμφαση στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης. Επίσης, το μάθημα μελετά τις βασικές αρχές, θεωρίες και πρακτικές του ψηφιακού μάρκετινγκ μέσω μιας σειράς μελετών και εισάγει τις διαφορετικές στρατηγικές μάρκετινγκ που εφαρμόζονται στα ψηφιακά μέσα και συγκεκριμένα στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης, ενώ μαθαίνει στους φοιτητές πως να αναγνωρίζουν τις ανάγκες μιας επιχείρησης, πως να αναλύουν τις διαδικτυακές αγορές και πώς να αναπτύξουν μία επιτυχημένη ψηφιακή παρουσία.

The rate and magnitude of the changes underway are already affecting our world in profound ways. Innovations in mobile technology, the Internet of Things, are reshaping consumer behaviour and business trends. They’re affecting people’s work and social relationships. Organisations that are looking to the future have acknowledged this and are trying to adapt to stay relevant and drive growth. Companies, governments, and non-profits all have the power to accomplish good things with the advances in robotics, artificial intelligence, and The Internet of things. Digital transformation is all about figuring that out.
This module deals with several of the transformations that have arisen in contemporary organisations as a result of the implementation and utilisation of information systems. A selection of case studies to explore, familiarise and identify the challenges/opportunities that have arisen in contemporary organisations. The new types of jobs & organisational structures in the digitalised enterprise; Digital Consumption; e-commerce, e-Healthcare, big data, digital security, privacy and ethics.
The aim of this module is to enable students to critically analyse real-world case studies of Digital Transformation, identify key challenges and opportunities, and propose strategic solutions. Students will be able to acquire valuable insights into how organisations have successfully navigated the challenges and opportunities presented by technology adoption.
This module introduces students to data presentation, analysis and interpretation for communication purposes. In the first part of the module, students will learn how to present and communicate data through the use of descriptive statistics, graphs and tables. In the second part, students will be introduced to methods of extracting data from the web and social media to answer critical questions about society and organisations.
This module introduces students to digital video and audio production by examining contemporary practices, trends and developments in the field. It offers the necessary theoretical background, as well as a critical exploration of different approaches to audio and video production. During the practical sessions of the module, students will have the opportunity to acquire core digital camera and audio recording skills, as well as to develop their post-production skills.
This module introduces students to the profession of Public Relations manager. Public relations are often negatively represented through the media. This is why the module emphasises the need to become ethical and socially responsible public relations managers. Case studies will be examined focusing on both good and bad practices. Students will be able to understand the internal and external environment of a company and familiarise themselves with different stakeholder groups and the different ways of approaching them. Media relations, crisis communication and employee communication will be heavily discussed. The module also places emphasis on the use of social media in communicating and building positive relationships with the public.
The module introduces students to major theories and research in social psychology. More specifically, it examines key areas of social cognition and social attribution, as well as attitudes, social influence, relationships, stereotyping and group membership. It also discusses how social psychology can be applied to different domains and its relevance to everyday life.
This module aims to teach students how to adapt their messages to the audiences of different social media. The module presents the key principles of social media writing and provides students with guidelines and tools to write effectively on social media. Through a series of practical tasks, students will be able to enhance their writing, editing and proofreading skills, and learn how to promote and increase their social media presence.
This module introduces students to the practical part of animated imagery, while providing the necessary principles and theoretical background for the sufficient comprehension and usage of this audiovisual medium. Within the context of this module, students will explore animation’s historical evolution, diachronic methods and styles, as well as contemporary practices. By manipulating two important animation values – timing and spacing – students will experiment throughout the semester and then apply the acquired animation skills in practice for the final project.
This module examines issues of gender construction, identity and representation in digital media. More specifically, the module introduces key concepts and theories in gender and digital media studies and familiarises students with research methodologies used for the examination of gender issues. During the sessions, students will discuss topics such as the construction of feminine, masculine and LGBTQ+ identities in digital media, the objectification of men and women by the media, and gender stereotypes promoted by the media.
This module introduces students to concepts and theories of negotiation and conflict management and aims at cultivating further their communication, negotiation and persuasion skills. Students will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with different strategies and approaches to conflict resolution which can be applied on an organisational level, but also internationally.
This module has been designed to familiarise students with principles and tools of research and to equip them with the essential practical and theoretical foundations necessary for independent research. The module builds on the knowledge and skills acquired in Data Analysis and Communication and offers students the opportunity to explore further a wide range of key research practices, such as the literature review, research design, data collection, data analysis, research ethics, etc. Examples of good practice as well as potential practical and theoretical problems are explored in a range of research contexts. Students receive systematic and ongoing practical training in a variety of research methods and the corresponding tools, and they are also encouraged to reflect critically on their own research practices.
The module introduces students to the concept of digital government and discusses the role of digital technologies in the public sector. More specifically, the module offers theoretical and empirical insights to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of digital government processes, challenges, impacts and implications. It also examines case studies of e-governance and e-government from various countries around the world.
The module introduces students to digital storytelling, the practice of using digital technologies to create and tell stories. More specifically, it examines concepts, theories and technologies which are central to the creation of digital stories and discusses the impact of digital storytelling on contemporary culture. It also provides students with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to generate and tell their own digital stories.
The purpose of this module is to provide students with the opportunity to develop an individual research project on a particular topic of their choice, which will fall under the broader area of Communication and Digital Media Studies. Students will decide on an appropriate topic for research, they will form a research question, they will review the literature on the particular subject, they will collect and analyse primary or secondary data, report their findings, make conclusions and recommendations for future research and they will produce an appropriately structured Dissertation. This process will allow students to demonstrate their knowledge of the scientific subject and gain new knowledge of the discipline. It will also demonstrate their ability to conduct genuine research within the specific field of studies and critically evaluate issues arising from the specific topic. Furthermore, to further support students, a series of lectures and seminars will be delivered during the Spring Semester, followed by tutoring sessions based on the needs of individual research projects. The module is directly linked to Research Methods.
The module examines data protection and privacy issues. Students will be introduced to recent developments in the protection of personal data and they will familiarise themselves with the different types of data and the existing EU regulation. They will also learn to evaluate and critically reflect on legal and ethical issues of data protection and privacy.
