The Master’s Programme “Business Law” is a modern postgraduate educational programme designed to meet the growing need and demand for legal studies related to the operation of modern businesses in our country. Combining the theoretical approach to law with contemporary jurisprudence across all legal fields related to business operations, the programme aims at providing students with the comprehensive, multidimensional, and specialized knowledge necessary for practicing legal professions in Greece and within the EU internal market as well, and equip them with valuable skills for their academic development and professional career as legal advisors and court representatives and for scientific development in academia.

The module delves into the understanding of key issues that arise in the context of banking transactions of modern businesses and issues of their insolvency. The first part of the module focuses on analyzing the concept and function of the current account, as a basic banking contract widely encountered in transactional and judicial practice, and on specific issues related to its operation, such as the fate of guarantees given in favor of its balance, the extent of guarantors’ liability, and the closing of the current account, with emphasis on judicial adjudication of its balance through the issuance of payment orders. The second part focuses on issues arising from national and cross-border bankruptcy of businesses, based on the legal framework in force in Greece and the European Union. The aim of the module is to familiarize students with the major issues of banking credit agreements and the collectability of related claims that strongly concern modern businesses, so that they are able to understand them in depth and provide the business with appropriate legal advice and/or judicial assistance.
This module offers a comprehensive analysis of Greek Tax Law, providing students with a deep understanding of the principles, rules, and regulations that govern taxation in Greece. It examines both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of the Greek tax systems, the interplay between Greek tax law and European Union directives, as well as the impact of international tax treaties. Through the combined analysis of legislative texts and jurisprudential examples, graduate students will develop critical skills required for understanding and handling tax-related cases that arise in the context of modern business operations.
The module addresses the legal framework and strategies for combating economic crimes, with a particular focus on corruption in the business sector. It examines key concepts in economic criminal law, including bribery, fraud, embezzlement, and money laundering, while also exploring international and national regulations designed to prevent and control corporate corruption. The module is developed in three main axes: the criminal offences primarily related to business activity, with particular focus on corruption; the modern investigative tools and sanctions available to law enforcement and judicial authorities for addressing corruption and financial crime (e.g. asset recovery); and the distinct characteristics of criminal liability when related to business activity (e.g. criminal liability and procedural rights of legal persons). By the end of the module, students will have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills for the legal handling of relevant cases in practice.
Τhe module provides an in-depth exploration of the legal frameworks that regulate electronic commerce (e-commerce) within the European Union, alongside the emerging role of Legal Technology (Legal Tech) in the legal sector. The module covers EU e-commerce directives, consumer protection laws, and the regulatory environment for online businesses, platforms, electronic marketplaces, online stores, domain names and digital services based on the P.D. 131/2003, DSA and DMA. In addition, it delves into the application of technology in legal services, exploring tools like AI, blockchain, and smart contracts, and their impact on modern transactions and legal practice.
This module explores the intersection of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles with modern entrepreneurship. It explores modern corporate sustainability by presenting the basic principles of environmental protection, social (labour) rights and ethical corporate governance. Students will analyse case studies of companies integrating ESG into their strategies, examine regulatory frameworks regarding environment, labour rights and corporate governance at national, EU and international level. Key topics include compliance with environmental legislation, ethical leadership, sustainable finance, corporate social responsibility (CSR), protection of social rights, especially protection against violence and harassment at work and whistleblowing protection. By the end of the module, students will be equipped with the tools and knowledge to build or support businesses that not only thrive financially but also contribute positively to society and the planet.
The module delves into the principles and regulations governing competition law in Greece and the European Union. It focuses on the legal framework designed to prevent anti-competitive practices, promote market efficiency, and protect consumer welfare. Students will gain advanced knowledge on cartels, abuse of dominant position, merger control, and state aid. The module combines theoretical foundations with a practical approach, using case studies and real-life scenarios to provide insight into the application of competition law in Greece and the broader EU context.
This module is designed to enhance students’ knowledge and skills regarding key legal issues related to legal entities and commercial companies, with a particular focus on legal theory and Greek jurisprudence. The module focuses on the allocation of liability within legal entities, piercing the corporate veil and the appointment of interim administrators in cases of conflicts of interest. It also explores specialised issues involving joint ventures, undisclosed partnerships, and hybrid legal entities, and corporate transformations. The module will assist students in providin correct, and reasonable legal advice on crucial legal issues related to the daily operations of modern businesses, as well as to effectively address any legal question that may arise.
The module is designed to provide a context within which students will study other modules of the LLM programme. It provides a foundation for understanding Greek business law as well as preparation for the dissertation module.
The Data Protection Law module is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the legal, ethical, and technical aspects of safeguarding personal and sensitive data. It covers key concepts, laws, and best practices related to data privacy and security, emphasising the importance of protecting individuals’ rights in a digital world, according to the EU legal framework (GDPR). The module aims to equip students and professionals with the knowledge to ensure compliance with GDPR and implement effective data protection strategies within organisations.
The module explores the principles, rules, and procedures governing public tenders in Greece. It examines the current legal framework at national and European level, focusing on policies and rules that ensure transparency and fair competition in the awarding of contracts for public goods, services, and works, analyzing the individual stages of the process, from the submission of bids to the execution of contracts and the exercise of legal remedies in case of dispute. The aim of the module is to familiarize graduate students with the public procurement process in practice, so that they are able to provide appropriate legal support to businesses participating in public tenders.
The module aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of students in critical legal issues of employment law and social insurance. The first part of the module aims at providing a deeper understanding and analysis of specific topics in Labor Law, such as the newly formed protection regime against dismissal and modern forms of employment, especially work provided through digital platforms, teleworking, and temporary employment. The second part of the module aims at familiarizing students with issues of Social Security Law, such as the liability of legal entity administrators for the payment of insurance contributions and the operation of the competent administrative authorities. By the end of the module, students will have acquired a comprehensive overview of the basic legal issues arising from the operation and evolution of employment relationships in modern businesses.
Το μάθημα παρουσιάζει και αναλύει τη λειτουργία διαφόρων συμβάσεων της σύγχρονης οικονομίας, όπως οι συμβάσεις Franchising, Leasing, Consulting, Factoring, Forfaiting, από τη φάση της διαπραγμάτευσης και της κατάρτισης έως και την εκτέλεσή τους (ομαλή και ανώμαλη), με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στη διαδικασία της διαμόρφωσης του κειμένου των συμφωνιών μέσα στο διαρκώς εξελισσόμενο οικονομικό περιβάλλον. Στόχος του μαθήματος είναι η εξοικείωση των φοιτητών με τις συμβάσεις της σύγχρονης οικονομίας, ώστε αφενός να μπορούν να συμμετέχουν ενεργά στις σχετικές διαπραγματεύσεις, καλύπτοντας το νομικό σκέλος της κατάρτισης των συμφωνιών, αφετέρου να μπορούν να αναλάβουν τον νομικό χειρισμό τους σε περιπτώσεις δικαστικών ή/και εξώδικων διενέξεων.
