Penelope Chatzidimitriou

Dr. Penelope Chatzidimitriou holds a PhD in Theatre Studies and a BA in English Language and Literature from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and an MA in Theatre Studies and Directing from Royal Holloway, University of London. She has extensive teaching experience in theatre, performance studies, and English literature at Greek and international universities.

Her scholarly work includes contributions to Bloomsbury Methuen Drama, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Peter Lang, Theater der Zeit, and China Theatre Press, along with reviews for Critical Stages (IATC Journal) and Athens Voice. Her recent research, funded by the Greek Ministry of Culture, explores the theatrical representation of organ donation and transplantation (Medical Humanities), and she is currently examining Theatre and Ecology.

In 2022–2023, she served as a scientific advisor for the European Cultural Centre of Delphi’s educational programme “Nature & Man in Tragedy.” Since 2000, she has collaborated with director Theodoros Terzopoulos and co-founded the theatre company “Ars Moriendi,” where she is dramaturge.
