Leda-Maria Pipsou holds a PhD in Law and is Professor Emerita of the School of Law of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She was born in Thessaloniki in 1956, where she continues to reside. She is a graduate of Anatolia College, Thessaloniki (1974). She graduated from the Faculty of Law, School of Legal, Economic and Political Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) (1979) with distinction. During her undergraduate studies, she received a four-year honorary scholarship by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). She completed her postgraduate studies at the Department of Postgraduate Studies, Faculty of Law, AUTH, specialising in Civil Procedural Law (1980-1981). She attended advanced training at the Department of Postgraduate Studies, Faculty of Law, University of Cologne, as a scholarship recipient (twice) of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). She participated in the teaching of the postgraduate programme in Civil Procedure under the supervision of Professors G. Baumgärtel and H. Prütting, focusing on comparative examination of common institutions of German and Greek civil procedural law. She was declared Doctor of Juridical Science, Faculty of Law, School of Legal, Economic and Political Sciences, AUTH, with distinction (1992). Languages: English (Proficiency, University of Michigan); German (Mittelstufe Diplom, Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki & Goethe-Institut Freiburg); French (Certificat de bonne Connaissance).

She has extensive teaching experience at the Auth Law School:

1. 1993-2023: Teaching of all compulsory and elective courses in Civil Procedural Law in Undergraduate Level.
2. 2002-2026: Participation in teaching all procedural law courses in the Postgraduate Studies Programme “Civil, Civil Procedural and Labour Law in Postgraduate Level.
3. 2005-2007: Teaching at the National School of Judges in the fields of “Law of Enforcement”, “Interim Measures”, and “Private International Procedural Law”.
4. Teaching for several years within the ERASMUS/SOKRATES programme (European Procedural Law) in English and German
5. Teaching in the Interdisciplinary Seminar “Consumer Protection and Contractual Forms of Modern Transactions” (subsequently “Modern Forms of Contracts”).
At the York Europe Campus Law School, she teaches the modules “Civil Procedure Law I”, “Civil Procedure Law II” and “Composite Applications in Private Law” as part of the undergraduate program entitled “Greek Law with Common Law”.
