Teaching philosophy

“Tell me and I will forget; Show me and I may remember; INVOLVE me and I will understand” (Confucius).

Dr. Nikolaidis has been in education for many years teaching in US and European institution of all levels. He strongly believes that the TEACHER can contribute much in people’s life. Dr. Nikolaidis has also realized that there are certain fundamental elements which define and determine the relationship between the teacher and the students: one is care, another is trust and a third one is good and clear communication.

From time to time he asks the students a simple question which help him much to re-orient in terms of learning and teaching: “What do you expect from a teacher”. It is so simple what students want from a teacher. They want the teacher:
• To be well informed on the subject
• To be next to the students and understand them better
• To create a positive environment in class
• To care about them and to respect the students
• To create an interest and involve us more
• To have good communication with students
• To be cooperative and helpful
• To make to class alive and interesting and funny sometimes.
• To be friendly; with good communication; participation and engagement in class
• To make the class interesting and the students willing to participate
• To encourage; to collaborate with students
• To be creative in teaching

And this is what he is doing all these years! He strongly believes that the teachers’ role is far beyond delivering the theory; their role is much more significant. An educator has an obligation towards society to lead the students in developing good and useful personalities; in learning how to learn, in becoming good professionals with high standards of ethics. Dr. Nikolaidis, in all the modules he teaches, uses innovative delivery methods. He has developed workbooks for every subject so that students in teams have the opportunity to apply what they learn in class. By applying such a method students are highly engaging themselves and they are able to better understand the theoretical framework delivered in class.
