Christos Efthymiou

Assistant Professor (Civil Procedure Law)

Christos Efthymiou holds a PhD in Civil Procedural Law from the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During the years 2021-2023, he conducted postdoctoral research on topic“The Legal Position of the Successful Bidder in Enforcement Proceedings for the Satisfaction of Monetary Claims”, published as a monograph.

He is admitted to the Thessaloniki Bar Association, currently qualified to practice before the Hellenic Supreme Court (Areios Pagos). He is in-house Counsel at Piraeus Bank S.A., with proven litigation and advisory experience, including non-performing loan recovery, banking litigation, phishing-related dispute management, and the provision of legal opinion, inter alia, s on matters such as assignment of claims, pledge creation, and issues concerning the Bank’s branch network and business units. He is Legal Counsel of export-oriented Société Anonymes, providing ongoing corporate advisory services. Chistos has extensive experience on litigation and advisory practice with emphasis on corporate law, banking law, and law of enforcement. .

As an Adjunct Lecturer at the School of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2023), he had undertaken independent teaching duties, including full course instruction and examination for the elective courses “Interim Measures,” “Voluntary Jurisdiction,” and “International and European Civil Procedural Law.” He also conducted tutorial sessions for core courses of the Law School (Civil Procedure I – General Part; Law of Enforcement), and prepared and delivered related teaching materials.

At the York Europe Campus Law School, he teaches the modules “Civil Procedure Law I”, “Civil Procedure Law II”, “Special Procedure – Non-Contentious Proceedings”, “Alternative Dispute Resolution” and “Composite Applications in Private Law” as part of the undergraduate program entitled “Greek Law with Common Law”.
