Charalambos Kyfonidis

Charalampos (Babis) Kyfonidis is a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) researcher and educator with expertise in UX research, tangible interfaces, and educational technology. He holds a PhD from the University of Strathclyde, where he designed interactive educational tools for children with type-1 diabetes. He has served as a Research Associate at CERTH – ITI, coordinating EU-funded projects (e.g., SOCIO-BEE, REEVALUATE) and contributing to grant writing. Babis has been teaching HCI and UX in the University of York Europe Campus since 2022, and has previously taught at King’s College London. His research spans usability evaluation, clinical decision support systems, and block-based programming tools and digital cultural heritage. Babis has published at top-tier conferences like CHI and EDUCON and has been recognized with awards such as the CHI Doctoral Consortium Scholarship and nomination for the ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award. Fluent in Greek and English, he enjoys volunteering, sports, and history.

Having scientific beliefs rooted in Human-Centred Design, my main research interest is the development of technologies, interfaces and interactions for the promotion of a viable socioeconomic growth.

Some of the specific areas of interest are educational technologies, digital cultural heritage, e-health but also support of the primary sector and sustainable industrial production.

In the past I have been in involved in programming education, technologies for support vulnerable groups and e-health.
