Dr. Ladas earned her PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2013, focusing on neuroplasticity and the effects of bilingualism on attention across the lifespan. She served as scientific coordinator in the Long Lasting Memories project (European Commission), researching neuroplasticity in older adults, and contributed to additional EU-funded projects. She has also collaborated with the University of Almeria, Spain, as a researcher.

Currently, Dr. Ladas is an Assistant Professor at the University of York Europe Campus. She is a Researcher at the Neuroscience Research Center (NEUREC) and a Research Associate at the South East European Research Centre (SEERC), within the Cognitive Neuroscience Research Cluster. She is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) with the British Psychological Society, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), and a member of the ACM Student Chapter. She has experience working with children with autism and learning difficulties, further informing her research and teaching practices.

My main research interest is the study of large-scale brain networks (consciousness & creativity), in neurotypical & neurodiverse populations, using neuroscientific methods during sleep, while combining the field of philosophy to better understand them. Sleep and involved cognitive functions, specifically Emotion Regulation, is a research interest that flows naturally from this! In addition, I am interested in neoplasticity and dopaminergic mechanisms of emotion and behavior . These research interests of mine range mainly in the context of cancer and addictions.
