Dr. Alexandros-Timotheos Kazanas holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) with a grade of 9.22 “Excellent.” In 2004, he obtained a Master’s Degree (LL.M.) specializing in Criminal Sciences from the Faculty of Law of AUTH with a grade of 10 “Excellent,” and in 2010 he was awarded a Doctorate in Legal Sciences with the grade “Excellent” (unanimously) in the field of Criminal Law (special criminal statutes), with a dissertation titled “Criminal Protection of Cultural Heritage – The Protected Legal Interest and Its Impact on the Punishability of Offences under Law 3028/2002.” During the years 2012-2015, he conducted postdoctoral research at AUTH, participating in the research team of the “ARISTEIA” program (NSRF) entitled: “Economic Crime and Corruption in the Public Sector in Greece: A Coherent Plan for Its Confrontation”, under the supervision of Professor M. Kaiafa-Gbandi, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has received scholarships from both the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation and the State Scholarships Foundation.
From 2004 to the present, he has been practicing as an attorney at law in Thessaloniki. He has extensive teaching experience as a Special Scientific Associate in the Department of Law at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Professor at Law Preparatory Schools, and Instructor, Public Vocational Training Institutes (I.E.K.) of Thessaloniki, Epanomi, Thermi, Pylaia and Triandria. He has published 2 monographs and numerous studies and contributions to collective volumes, and has participated in various conferences, seminars, and workshops.
