Using library resources

All currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff are entitled to borrow materials from the Library’s collections.

Library accounts

As a University of York Europe Campus  student, you are required to manage several essential accounts:

  • University of York Europe Campus Account: This serves as your official communication channel with your Department, local Library, and Services. Additionally, it provides access to Google Class and the Intranet.
  • University of York IT Account: This account grants you access to the University of York’s electronic resources, including YorSearch and the Subject Guide webpages.
  • Turnitin Account: This account allows you to utilize plagiarism prevention software, where all coursework submissions must be made.

 

Borrowing material

All currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff are entitled to borrow materials from the Library’s collections. Borrowing privileges for alumni and visitors are subject to specific restrictions.

Procedure

  • Materials intended for borrowing should be presented at the Library Services Desk.
  • The borrowing period and the due date for returning the items will be indicated on a stamp placed on the back of the item.
  • If a required item is currently on loan, users may place a reservation either online or in person. Notifications will be sent via email once the item becomes available.
  • If an item is not on loan but cannot be located on the shelves, users are encouraged to complete a "Missing Item" card at the Library Services Desk.
  • Users are responsible for replacing any borrowed item that is lost or damaged during the loan period.

Non-circulating resources

The following resources and collections are restricted to use within the Library and cannot be borrowed:

  • Reference materials
  • Print journals
  • Required textbooks and module reserves
  • Items in special collections
  • Equipment

How to renew and return materials

  • Renew Materials Online at library@.....
  • By telephone (+30 2310 538 560)
  • In person at the Library Services Desks or at the front entrance Secretaries during vacation periods.
  • Send items on loan back Via mail to the Leontos Sofou building.

Interlibrary request and document delivery services

If the Library does not hold the resource you need for your studies or research, you can ask us to obtain it for you. Requests for such materials are free of charge.

Before making a request

There are a few places you can check to see if we already have what you need:

Digital resources will be delivered in PDF format. 

Physical items, such as books or dissertations that are part of library collections, will be sent to a designated campus front desk for collection. For off-campus students, materials may be shipped directly to their home or business address.

Lockers

The Library provides lockers to users who wish to securely store their personal belongings, including books issued from the Library.

Terms and Conditions

  • Locker keys can be obtained from the Library Services Desk during operational hours.
  • Users must present their Student ID Card or their Registration Number to receive a locker key.
  • Locker keys are issued on a daily basis and must be returned 10 minutes before the Library's closing time.
  • Users bear full responsibility for both the locker key and the contents stored within the locker.
  • The Library is not liable for any personal belongings left in the lockers.
  • Storage of food or beverages in lockers is strictly prohibited.
  • Lockers are subject to routine checks and clearance.
  • Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the revocation of locker privileges.
