Computers & tech access

Users with laptops or other devices can connect to the campus network through available plug-in points in various areas.

Wireless access

The Library is equipped with wireless connectivity. Users with laptops or other devices can connect to the campus network through available plug-in points in various areas of the library and in the Study and Working Rooms. Once connected, users will have access to electronic resources, as well as their own email and personal file space. Wireless access is restricted to current students and staff and in some cases to external members who are conducting research.

Wireless access details can be obtained from the Library Services Desk.

Access to computing facilities

  • The Computing and IT facilities are available exclusively to registered students, faculty and staff, and may only be used for research, learning, and educational purposes.
  • In addition, academic departments provide specialized facilities for their students, including computers in dedicated laboratories equipped with subject-specific software. All computers are connected to the campus network, maintained by the Computing Support Staff, and provide access to available software, services, and the internet.
  • To access the computers, students must use their authorized username and password, which are provided during the Induction Week by the Computing Centre. Once these personal credentials are obtained, students can log on to any campus PC to access the internet, email, and the Library’s online catalogue and electronic resources.
  • Alumni, external members, and day visitors use a "public user" account, which can be obtained from the Library Services Desk each time they visit the Library.

Policies

As a member of the library, you will have access to various computing facilities, which must be used responsibly.

  • Computing facilities are to be used exclusively by current students and staff for research, educational, and instructional purposes. Consequently, downloading, displaying, scanning, or printing offensive, sexist, or racist material is prohibited.
  • Assigned class work and instructional activities take priority over personal use of the computing facilities. Users engaging in recreational computing must vacate the computers if requested by the Library or Computing Support staff.
  • Accounts and email must be used solely by the authorized user. Sharing accounts, passwords, or attempting to access another person’s email is strictly prohibited.
  • External users and day visitors must obtain permission from the Library Services Desk to use the library’s computing facilities. Restrictions apply to these special member categories.
  • Users must always remember to log off upon completing their work on the computing facilities.

Failure to adhere to these policies may result in violations that could lead to the temporary or permanent suspension of computing privileges, as well as further disciplinary action by the university.

Use of Library equipment

The Library is dedicated to providing students, faculty, and staff with access to the resources and tools necessary for academic success in both learning and teaching.

In addition to literature, the Library offers various types of equipment, including:

  • Audio-visual (AV) equipment such as USB drives, microphones, and a range of AV adapters and cables
  • Mobile phone chargers
  • Tools available at our help desks, such as scissors, pens, pencils, and more.

Guidelines for using Library equipment

  • Ensure that all equipment is complete and in working order before returning it to the Library Services Desk.
  • Use the equipment at your own risk. The Library assumes no responsibility for any damage or harm caused to the user, their work, materials, or property due to faulty equipment.
  • Handle the equipment with care to minimize wear and tear.
  • If any equipment is found to be malfunctioning, notify the Library immediately.
  • The duplication of software from any Library equipment is strictly prohibited.

Printing, copying, and scanning

Multifunction printer-copier-scanners are available to students, faculty, and staff across the campus.

Each student is allocated a set number of free print credits annually. Print jobs can be uploaded remotely and printed on campus, with users able to check their remaining print balance. Should you need to replenish your printing credits, please consult with the library staff.

Scan and deliver

The Scan and Deliver service is an electronic document delivery service that enables users to receive scanned copies of book chapters or journal articles via email.

The Library strives to fulfill requests within 7 working days (Monday to Friday), excluding weekends and public holidays.

Copyright compliance

Reproduction services are provided in accordance with the provisions of Greek Copyright Law and are intended solely for private study and research purposes. These services must not be used for commercial activities. Each user is personally responsible for ensuring the fair use of reproduction services and for adhering to copyright regulations.
