Study and Working Spaces

Study and working spaces

The Library offers a variety of computing and IT services, as well as study and reading spaces, designed to accommodate diverse study preferences and work styles. Students may use their own devices, such as laptops, across all library locations.

Non-bookable spaces

Drop-in study

The majority of our study spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis during library opening hours. These spaces are equipped with desks, comfortable seating, and power outlets for laptop use. To access drop-in spaces, simply explore the available areas and choose a suitable study space.

PC working areas

The PC Working Areas are equipped with computers primarily for internet browsing, searching the online catalogue (OpenABEKT), and completing written assignments.

Working rooms

These rooms are equipped with PCs and comfortable tables, offering students the opportunity to work individually or in groups, using their laptops or iPads. The rooms also provide printing and scanning facilities, and headphones are available upon request from the Library Services Desk.

Group study rooms

These rooms are intended for students working on group projects and assignments. The spaces are equipped with PCs and printing facilities. During examination periods, priority is given to quiet study.

Bookable study spaces

Please be considerate when booking a facility, as these spaces are popular and available for all students to use. They are not intended for single student occupancy. The following policies apply:

  • One person must book the space on behalf of the group.
  • Each group is allowed a maximum booking duration of 2 hours per day. A group may have up to 3 bookings at any one time, provided they are for different days.
  • Block booking a Project Room for the entire day is not permitted.

Project rooms

These rooms are designated for groups of students preparing for presentations. They are equipped with facilities to support students in the practice or recording of presentations. Advanced booking is required and can be made by contacting the Library Services Desk (via email, phone, or in person).

The GREEN reading room

For those seeking extended hours and additional study and working facilities, the Green Reading Room has been redesigned to meet these needs.

What is available

Individual study spaces in the Green Reading Room are ideal for students who require a quiet environment for individual study and laptop use. The room is also equipped with PCs, a printer, and a scanner. The facility is open 7 days a week, with hours from 08:30–21:45 on weekdays. For weekend access, please consult with the secretary on the ground floor (L. Sofou).

Save your work and begin gathering your belongings 15 minutes before the Library’s closing time. Staff will begin the closing procedures at that time.

  • Noise should be kept to a minimum, and all electronic devices should be set to low ringer or vibrate mode. Respect for fellow students is expected at all times.
  • Bottled water is allowed; however, food, drinks, and smoking are prohibited.
