Prof. Andrew Lee is a Consultant in Communicable Disease Control with the UK Health Protection Agency. He is an MBA lecturer at the University of York Europe Campus and also a Senior Clinical University Tutor at the School of Health and Related Research, the University of Sheffield, where for the last 5 years he has taught health needs assessments, evaluation and impact assessments, health protection and emergency planning to postgraduate students. He is also currently a clinical commissioning champion for the Royal College of General Practice’s Centre for Commissioning. In this role, he advocates for the development of vital public health competencies in general practice to facilitate optimal evidence-based commissioning for local populations. Prof. Andrew trained initially as a pediatrician before moving into public health in 2003. He has worked as a public health consultant first in Bradford City, and then Nottingham City with a remit covering the commissioning of long term conditions, HIV, cardiovascular disease screening and clinical effectiveness. He has also worked in numerous settings both in the UK and abroad in various programmes and consultancy projects for both government and non-governmental organisations.
