Dr. Tsorakidis represented the University of York Europe Campus on this international stage and shared innovative insights on higher education.
Dr Nikos Tsorakidis, Deputy Vice-President for External Engagement and Partnerships at the University of York Europe Campus, was invited to speak at the Times Higher Education (THE) Eurasia Universities Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan on 25th September, 2025. The summit brings together university leaders, policymakers and researchers from across Europe and Asia. Hosted in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Education and the State Agency for Science and Higher Education of Azerbaijan, this landmark gathering provides a platform for collaboration, innovation and transformative impact.

The panel members discussed how Universities prepare students for a hyper-connected world. Dr Tsorakidis highlighted the importance of curriculum innovation for the development of AI literacy, cybersecurity awareness, and digital skills and ethics into all disciplines and the importance of collaboration with other Universities to create globalised learning environments and in particular cross-border and cross-campus projects sharing good practice examples from the University of York Europe campus. Finally he emphasised the critical role of University-Industry-Government-Community collaboration by showcasing some of our successful student led community engagement initiatives such as the community Counselling center, the collaboration with the leading Food Waste NGO in Greece (Boroume) and with the Municipality of Thessaloniki.

The panel was moderated by Dr Leah Fox, Dean, College of Leadership and Innovation, Buckinghamshire New University. Co-panelists were Zhana Rysbekova, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Science, Tashenev University, KZ and Mary Senkowska, Founder and Early Talent Development Strategist, Creative Brain.
