IAB – International Advisory Board

IAB provides strategic advice and global perspectives to support the University’s international engagement.

The International Advisory Board serves as a key platform to enhance advice and greater communication between University of York Europe Campus and leaders in the wider region and beyond. Through this collaborative structure, the Board's aim is to support  Europe Campus's vision to “…be a leading International Institution, achieving excellence and making a difference in South-East and Eastern Europe and the wider world…”, while providing policy advice, and networking with academia, researchers, policy makers, business leaders, and societal actors. International Advisory Board members also provide Europe Campus staff with information, insight, and guidance regarding key issues of importance as part of a dialogue on how University of York Europe Campus  can best pursue Academic Excellence in Teaching, Research and Societal Engagement.

Terms of references

  • To guide CITY ULE’s activities based on the principles of Excellence, Internationalism, Entrepreneurialism, Equality, Diversity and inclusion.
  • To support CITY ULE ’s Executive Board in implementing its strategy.
  • To provide guidance for enhancing CITY ULE ’s impact regionally and globally
  • To build and maintain a positive image of the University of York and its European Campus CITY ULE as a beacon of academic excellence in South-Eastern Europe, East Europe and beyond.
  • To assist in identifying vital issues and changes in South-East European and East European countries or in the roles of international actors operating in the region and thus promote research and public engagement activities.
  • To assist in the identification of challenges and opportunities for further developing CITY ULE’s educational offering.
  • To support CITY ULE in enhancing networks with Academia, Industry, Government and Society.
  • To support CITY ULE in promoting its Value Proposition of education and research that addresses significant societal challenges.
  • To remain in touch through ad-hoc engagement on issues that their expertise may be of value.
  • To engage with the staff, student body and our Alumni as appropriate.

Membership

The International Advisory Board is composed of up to 15 individuals from:

  • International organisations,
  • educational institutions,
  • government and non-government organisations,
  • representatives from industry, and
  • local leaders who possess experience and knowledge in their countries and internationally.

Terms for Board members shall be four years. Members may serve two (2) consecutive terms. In special circumstances and with the Executive Board’s approval, a member’s length of continuous service on the Board may be extended for a third term. Terms of Office for Board members (composition, number of members, terms of service, etc.) are subject to modification by the Executive Board.
