The University of York Europe Campus successfully organized a Free Memory Test Day in collaboration with the Hellenic Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association (Alzheimer Hellas), with the support of the Municipality of Oreokastro, at the University’s new campus facilities in Oreokastro.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness and inform the public about the importance of prevention and early detection of cognitive difficulties. Individuals over the age of 60 had the opportunity to undergo a free preventive memory screening, receive immediate feedback on their results, and obtain scientific guidance and advice regarding cognitive health.
The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Christos Saramourtsis, Deputy Mayor of Social Policy and Solidarity of the Municipality of Oreokastro.

The scientific supervision of the initiative was undertaken by Georgia Papaioannou, Lecturer in Neuropsychology at the Department of Psychology of York Europe Campus, together with the psychologists of Alzheimer Hellas, Eleni Poptsi and Mary Keramida.
Volunteer students from the MSc programme in Clinical Neuropsychology also participated in the initiative. More specifically, Katerina Andriopoulou, Stella Zifkou, Dimitra Nikolaidou, and Evangelia Kaloudi conducted the memory screening tests, while Maria Tryfonidou, Maria Mouratidou, and Christina Katsoridou supported the organisational aspects of the event, contributing significantly to its successful implementation.

It is worth noting that this was the third time the University of York Europe Campus organized a Free Memory Screening Day in collaboration with Alzheimer Hellas, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to community engagement and to promoting prevention and awareness around cognitive health.
We would also like to sincerely thank Lidl Hellas for sponsoring the event.
